Privacy Policy

Battery Snitch ("the app", "we", "us") is published by BlueRockets. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. By using Battery Snitch you agree to this policy.
1. Information we handle
a. Device & usage data (analysed on-device)
To detect battery drain, the app reads Android's usage statistics — which apps have run, and for how long, in the background. This analysis happens locally on your device. The raw usage data is not uploaded to us.
b. Anonymous install identifier
The app generates a random identifier ("install ID") that is not tied to your name, email, phone number, or Google account. It lets features like referrals, crowdsourced statistics, and purchase verification work without an account. It is stored on your device (and may be included in Android's standard app backup for the same Google account).
c. Purchases & subscriptions
Purchases (such as Pro+ or one-time unlocks) are processed by Google Play Billing; we never receive or store your payment details. To verify and maintain your entitlement we send the purchase token, product ID, and your anonymous install ID to our servers, which check it with Google's Play Developer API and store the resulting subscription status (e.g. active, plan, renewal date) keyed only to your install ID. We may receive notifications from Google Play about renewals, cancellations, and refunds for the same purpose.
d. Feedback you send
If you use the in-app feedback form, we receive the message you wrote and, optionally, a reply email address you choose to provide, along with basic technical context (app version, device model, Android version) to help us reproduce issues. This is sent to us by email.
e. Crowdsourced anonymous statistics
To power features like the Hall of Shame and device leaderboards, the app may submit anonymous, aggregated readings — for example an app's package name and a background-minutes figure, or a device model and a battery metric. These submissions contain no personal identifiers and are combined with data from many devices into statistical aggregates.
f. Referrals & engagement counters
The referral feature uses anonymous install IDs and short referral codes to count successful invites. The app also keeps anonymous counts of certain actions (e.g. number of scans) to power on-device stats and product improvement.
g. Advertising
The app shows ads via Google AdMob. Depending on your region and consent choice, AdMob may use device identifiers to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. Where required, we present a consent prompt (Google's UMP), and you can change your choice at any time from the app's settings ("Manage ad privacy choices"). See Google's advertising policies.
h. Your local profile
If you add a name or email to your profile in Settings, that information is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to us or anyone else. It is purely cosmetic and you can edit or clear it at any time.
2. How we use information
- To detect and alert you to battery-draining apps.
- To deliver features you request (purchases, referrals, feedback, leaderboards).
- To verify and maintain your subscription/purchase entitlements.
- To produce anonymous, aggregated statistics like the Hall of Shame.
- To diagnose problems and improve the app.
3. Permissions we request
- Usage access — to read background app activity for drain detection.
- Notifications — to send drain alerts and reminders (you can disable these).
- Other optional permissions may be requested only for specific features you choose to use.
4. Third-party services
We rely on the following providers, each governed by their own privacy policy:
- Google Play Billing & Google Play services
- Google Firebase (Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Firestore, Hosting) — our backend
- Google AdMob — advertising
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers above to operate the app, or where required by law. Crowdsourced statistics are shared publicly only in anonymous, aggregated form.
6. Data retention
Anonymous aggregates and entitlement records are retained for as long as needed to operate the relevant feature. Feedback emails are retained as needed to respond and improve the app. Data stored on your device is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
7. Security
We use reputable infrastructure (Google Firebase) and reasonable technical measures to protect data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard the limited data we handle.
8. Children's privacy
Battery Snitch is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Your choices & rights
- Disable notifications from app settings or your device settings.
- Change your ad-consent choice via "Manage ad privacy choices" in the app.
- Edit or clear your local profile at any time.
- Uninstall the app or clear its data to remove on-device information.
- Contact us to request deletion of data associated with your anonymous install ID (see below).
Depending on where you live (e.g. the EEA/UK or California), you may have additional rights such as access, correction, or deletion. Contact us to exercise them.
10. International users
Our backend is operated on Google infrastructure and data may be processed in other countries. By using the app you consent to this processing.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
