The Battery
Hall of Shame

Q: Which apps drain the most battery on Android?

Right now the worst offenders on the board are FakeCall, Phoenix and imo Lite, ranked by Drain Score from anonymous, real-device reports. The board updates automatically as new reports arrive.

Q: What is the Drain Score?

A 0–100 severity score that blends an app's typical (median) background runtime with its worst-case (90th percentile), graded A (easy on battery) to F (severe drain). The blend means an app that usually behaves but occasionally runs wild still gets called out.

Q: Where does this data come from?

It's crowdsourced from real Android devices running Battery Snitch, reported anonymously — no accounts, no identifiers. We rank by the median so one outlier device can't skew the board, and an app only goes public once it has at least 3 independent reports.

Q: How do I stop apps from draining my battery in the background?

Open Settings → Apps → the offending app → Battery and set it to Restricted, revoke permissions it doesn't need, and turn off background data for apps that don't need live updates. Battery Snitch finds the exact apps draining your phone and alerts you the moment one crosses the line.

The most notorious battery-draining apps on Android — ranked by how hard they run in the background, reported anonymously by Battery Snitch users worldwide.

METHOD

How the ranking works

Every entry is built from anonymous reports. The Drain Score (A–F) blends an app's median background runtime with its worst-case (p90) — so apps that mostly behave but occasionally run wild are still called out. Medians keep one outlier device from skewing the board, and the more reports an app has, the more reliable its grade.

WHY

Why background drain matters

Apps that constantly wake your phone, sync, or hold the CPU awake are the biggest hidden cause of poor battery life — they drain you while the screen is off, exactly when your phone should be resting.
